Zorro

Zorro and his twin brother were born in November 2022 in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. The babies’ father sustains the family of six as a furniture finisher. Both babies spent their first weeks in incubators, but while his brother grew stronger, Zorro’s skin retained a bluish tinge and he remained listless. Zorro was eventually diagnosed with severe pulmonary valve stenosis. In July 2023, surgeons successfully reconstructed the inadequate lung valve that had prevented his tiny body from circulating oxygen-rich blood. When the Puente de Solidaridad social worker checked in with his parents in October, Zorro had gained weight and grown in length, but the family was most excited to report that he is more active and happier. The family could not have accessed surgery without the support of the Solidarity Bridge Heart Program, both financially and logistically. Thank you!
