Walter

When Walter was born in October of 2019, doctors noted that he was underweight, but otherwise healthy. Walter’s mother shared, “Due to the pandemic, we did not take Walter to the see the doctor until he was several months old. The doctor informed us that he might have a heart condition. For me it was as if my world had fallen. I went into depression and my husband didn’t understand. The truth is that nobody is prepared for such news. The doctors explained that Walter would need surgery, but after the surgery he would be well. As parents we will do everything possible to have the operation. We want to see him healthy like his brother. We are very grateful to know that there are institutions like you that offer this type of support. Thank you very much God bless you.”

With support from the doctors at the Incor Clinic, Puente de Solidaridad, and Dharma Social Programs, Walter was able to be admitted for surgery in April of 2021. Drs. Barrientos and Jaldín performed the surgery to correct Walter’s ventricular septal defect. Walter was discharged after four days in the hospital. His parents and grandparents are caring for him in these weeks after surgery. He is expected to fully recover and soon be able to play with his doting older brother.
