Victoria

After eight years of marriage, Hugo and Marisa were unable to have children of their own. So, they were overjoyed with the opportunity to adopt Victoria as a newborn baby. Victoria’s birth parents were unable to care for her, but she was a great blessing to Hugo and Marisa.

When Victoria was two years old, a pediatrician told the couple that Victoria had a heart problem, but it might heal on its own. Four years later, as Victoria was beginning the first grade, she became seriously ill. Doctors determined Victoria was suffering from a liver problem, but also had a serious heart condition that needed to be treated surgically.

Hugo and Marisa did everything within their power to help their daughter receive the medical care she needed. They both worked full-time in a restaurant and lived with Hugo’s mother to save money. They were grateful to be referred to the Incor Foundation and Puente de Solidaridad in Santa Cruz for help.

In the summer of 2022, Victoria was scheduled for surgery to close the hole in her heart. The surgery went very well, and Victoria was released from the hospital the following day. Hugo and Marisa are relieved to have their daughter home safe and sound.
