Susana

When Susana was born in July 2021, her biological parents were not ready to care for her. Her father fled to Chile for work and abandoned all responsibility for the baby. Susana’s mother was an alcoholic and couldn’t take care of the child on her own, so she turned to her cousin Bella for help. Bella and her husband Ernesto had been married for a few years and had lost two children at birth due to cardiological problems. They were moved to adopt Susana and to raise her as their own. The couple both worked as teachers and earned a decent salary, but they were not prepared to learn that Susana also suffered from cardiological issues.

Ernesto shared, “When Susana was three months old in a medical check-up, they told us about her cardiological problem. We want her to be healthy and have a full life. We are very grateful for your support.”

Susana was scheduled for surgery at the Incor Clinic in Santa Cruz at the end of August to correct her ventricular septal defect. She remained in the hospital for nearly two weeks before being released. We hope that Susana will be able to lead a full life with the support of her new and loving parents.
