Pasqual

Born in November 2020, Pasqual was diagnosed with a congenital heart disease at the beginning of this year. An early echocardiogram of the now five-month-old patient showed that the patient had a subaortic ventricular septal defect, in addition to a patent foramen ovale, both dangerous and rare heart defects requiring urgent open-heart surgery.

Pasqual is the youngest child of the López family, who at the time, expressed concerns about the costs of Pasqual’s medical expenses and surgery. Pasqual’s mother shared with tears in her eyes, “My husband and I are out of work… It does not matter how, but we will get the money for the surgery, and my friends and family told us that they will help us to raise money. We ask you to please help us.”

Both Pasqual’s mother and father are fully committed to the health and happiness of Pasqual, and although they are currently unemployed, the parents worked diligently with community organizations to raise money for Pasqual's surgery. The López family, consisting of Pasqual, his mother, father, and eight-year-old sister, is very close with one another and their extended family members, and the entire family was in search of financial resources for the health of baby Pasqual, carrying out various activities and raffles to raise money on behalf of Pasqual.

On April 5, 2021, Pasqual was able to receive the heart surgery needed for his condition at Prosalud Clinic in Cochabamba. This was all possible through the help and support of the Solidarity Bridge Pediatric Heart Surgery Program, Dr. Carlos Brockmann, the patient’s family and community, and the parents’ unwavering dedication.
