Monica Cabezas
Monica Cabezas is a 6 year old girl from the Chapare area of Cochabamba. Her mother Florencia is 26 years old and works as a cook. Her father worked as a waiter. When he learned that Monica was going to be born, he abandoned Florencia. She is currently a single mother who gets some help from her family. They currently live with Florencia's mother who is 50 years old and survives doing subsistence agriculture. Florencia currently works as a cook, earning approximately $92 a month.
Monica was in school when they noted that she was having constant nosebleeds and began to vomit. She later lost consciousness. She was diagnosed and referred to us and was successfully operated on at the Hospital Belga. This surgery was made possible through the financial support of Dharma Trading Co.
