Kandi
Kandi first showed symptoms of heart trouble at age four, but her family could not afford treatment. About two years ago, they could no longer ignore her symptoms, as Kandi couldn’t do any physical activity without succumbing to exhaustion and a racing heart. Her stepfather earns just over U$100 a month working in a foundry, while her mom does manicures for extra cash.
Since her surgery, Kandi’s mom is excited to report that she is back to school and even participating in gym class.
