Eliot
Eliot is the fourth child of Mercedes, a single mother who hustles day-after-day cleaning houses to earn about U$250 dollars a month for rent, food, and other necessities. Eliot has VSD, a relatively common heart malformation. The Texas Children’s team patched the defect in his ventricular septum using a minimally invasive procedure, and the infant was discharged the next day. However, INCOR doctors continue to closely monitor Eliot’s evolution, as he may require a follow-up surgery, possibly upon the return of the Texas team in 2024.
