Benjamin Guzman
Benjamin's father is Eddy Guzmán, 34 years old and is a worker in the bus station. His mother, Reina sells miscellaneous items on the street. The father had an income of 600 B's ($75) a month and the mother of 300 for a total of 900 B's, but the mother has been unable to work because of Benjamin's condition. The entire family lives parents and 3 children in one room in Reina's parent's house. The income is enough for electricity, food, education costs of the other 2 children and medicine for Benjamin
In Reina's words, "I do not know what I am going to do to save my little son's life. My husband is very fearful of the operation and has not been a support to me. We are poor and do not have the resources to pay the costs. I have faith that God will not abandon me." Benjamin has been operated on and is well.
